  2. Rambling On

Christa’s entry is precious. Look at those soft little birds. They look like youngsters.

  4. Ken

I like the `Dreary day In Duluth, Now, your the pro

  5. Ken

Those two babie sparrows remind of my younger days when we(a friend and me) would try to rob the nest of a pair of sparrows. Not that we wanted to harm them, but just to raise them ourselves. We never got the oppotunity though. The neighbor lady always came out with her broom and stopped us. Thanks `Carole for the childhood memories.

    1. Liz Martin

The sparrows photo is by Christa. Loved your childhood memory though! Thanks for sharing it!

  6. Ken

I never though I would have such a passion for something like `photography. Living in the `SouthWest desert does help to drive that passoin even more I guess. Most of my shots are taken close to home, here in the desert. Fortunately, I am surrounded by several `National Parks. Zion, Bryce, Gran-Daddy Grand Canyon, Snow Canyon and `Vegas, just to name a few. Who would ever think that a desolate-dry-old desert could be an artist/photographers paradise. Saint George, Utah is a resort/retirement community. The weather is pretty pleasant year-round. It is like a `Hub for tourists who come to visit all the `National Parks. I am a `Novice photographer. I still have so much to learn, but to open up the mind and let your creative side just take over has been very challenging and fun for me. This is my `First` contest ever and I wish everyone who entered the best.

    1. Liz Martin

Thanks for sharing your photos in the contest, Ken. I have never been to those National Parks and really enjoyed seeing photos of them!

  7. Ken

  18. Kim Moore

Stunning shots by everyone! I particularly like #7. Such a beautiful vista!

I’ll see what I can come up with. I haven’t been quite my “photogging” self lately. lol

    1. Liz Martin

I go through that too, Kimmy! Spurts where I am just not motivated. Always feel good after I get a good shot though! Like medicine for my soul!

  19. Ken

Lidsey, They are all beautiful, you have very lovely daughter. # 20 and # 23 are my favorites, those two really caught my eye asnd my heart. Thank you for sharing these with us.

  20. Ken

Liz, Are you staying busy? It has picked up a bit

    1. Liz Martin

I sure am, Ken! But I love it!

  21. Monika

I looked at these photos they are all lovely.

I think I like #029 best, I love rainbows. I like the mood in #026. The close up of #033 (swans) is fantastic, although it must have taken a lot of luck to get shot #027 of the bee. Being at the right time at the right moment.

    Karen your photos are super.

    Monika :)

  22. Josie

I just adore Karen’s Swan Babies #33 – she has captured their soft downy texture perfectly. You feel you have to put your hand right in and touch them…but under Mum’s watchful eye, you wouldn’t dare, of course!

#29 and #30 are both so clever. What a versatile photographer Karen is.

The standard is very high, it seems to me, How envious I am of such talent!

    1. karen

Josie what lovely compliments!!! Thanks, so much!!!

  23. Jill Riter

I won’t make comments on any of my entries, lol, but have to say :) that

#031 Bird Tracks in the Sand is so cool because when I look at it I see a clock. The sands of time…

and I enjoy the picture #021 Run with Mom! So sweet.

  24. karen

Thanks for the compliments, Josie, Monika and Jill! It’s so much fun to share them. I also love Christa’s little sparrows… wonder what they’re saying to each other?

  25. Ken

Excellent work `Karen They`re all super, I especially love #`s 33, 34, 28, and 29. If I had to narrow it down, it would a toss up between #33, I love the swan and her young ones, `Beautiful shot. But, I live in the `South West` desert, I love a beautiful sunrises and sunsets and cloud formations during, before and after a storm. # 29 is a favorite of mine. Thank you for sharing `Karen.

  26. Ken

Jill, I just love #34, this is a darling shot. #39 I like, BTW, that not beer you`re drinking is it `young man? Thank you for sharing

  31. Ken

#47, What would summer be without `The Pool`. Beautiful shot `Kim

  32. nanci jones

The photos are excellent. I would guess that many of the photographers are professional. Maybe there should be two categories: one for pros and one for amateurs. :)

  33. nanci jones

When there’s a photo of a person, has the photographer received permission from them to post it on the Internet?

  34. Laura Finazzo

Hello all. Having just joined, I’ve taken the time to look at each of the photos and they are all wonderful pictures. I’d like to highlight
#5..I can smell that ‘ol bbq from here and It smells of Summer!

#24 I love this photo, the grass is so pretty as the main subject with a beautiful boat in the background. Well done!

#28 A lovely view of the gull.. and it’s wings echo the shoreline, nice!

    #32 Tubing…speaks for itself

#40, Toes in the sand…I can feel the cool sand between my toes!

    Anyway. Thanks
    Laura

  35. Ken

Believe me `Nanci, I am `No Pro. Someday maybe. Liz did say this contest was not based on professionalism, but plain-old creativity and just fun. It is a great opportunity for everyone who loves photography to get some `exposure, visit other peoples sites, look at what they are doing, ask questions, etc, and of course `comment.

  36. Ken

Laura, I love all your nature shots, especially #48 and #50 excellent shots

    1. Laura Finazzo

Thank you, Ken. These are some things of summer that I love and one I’m not to comfortable with; butterflies! But using my camera as a buffer I’m learning to like them more. :)

  37. Ken

Where is `Lisa? I thought for sure she would be in this contest. Some go find her and get her `cute little hiney over here.Lol

  38. Ken

Sorry, thatis supposed to `Someone, not Some. still too early here.

  39. Ken

My typing is way off this morning, please, read between the lines.

  40. Ken

Jill, #41 `Great Shot, it reminds me of my `niece (who was a red-head also) when she was about that age. She was a `pouter` also. Again, great shot.

  41. Kirsten aka mcgaelicgal

So many lovely images from everyone! I have to say, tho’, that the one which stands out and shouts SUMMER to me is Karen Securius’ Tubing Fun. Until well into my college years, summer always meant water to me. Karen has captured the look of “utterly thrilled but a little bit freaked” that is the essence of kids really cutting loose on a summer adventure. Bravo, Karen!

The other water/beach images of Karen’s of course tugged at me – and the “Awwww-inspiring” shot of the swan and her wee ones is just darling – but it was the bee on the laundry that took me back in a flash to end-of-summer weekends at Tower Hill, Michigan. Our extended family gathered together annually, celebrebrating summer’s last hurrah. There was ALWAYS an assortment of towels hanging out to dry as cousins, aunts and uncles trekked back and forth to the lake.

Thank you, Karen, for bringing the JOY of summer back to me, as I sit here as an adult, grumbling and sweltering in the heat & humidity! lol

    1. karen

Oh, Kirsten! What a wonderful compliment. It’s one thing to take a pretty picture, but it’s something very special indeed to be able to have a picture call up a special memory! Thanks so much!!!

  42. Ken

I would like to share my `spaces with all of you. I mainly do `landscapes, but I am always experimenting with new stuff.

Jaunt these down and feel free to visit anytime. I will be out of town this weekend and most of next week. Going up north (Salt Lake City) to visit the family and do some fishing. I will try and comment some before I leave. Good Night Everyone.

  43. karen

Thanks so much for the wonderful compliments, Kirsten, Ken and Laura. I’m not a “pro”, and I’m so moved when someone tells me that one of my pictures triggers a wonderful memory!

  44. Pat

What great photos! I’m a nature lover, so especially appreciated Carole’s hummingbird (#1), Karen’s bee on the clothesline (#27) and darling swans (#33), and Laura’s goldfinch in flower garden (#49) and butterfly (#50).

However, the photos that epitomize summer for me are Karen’s “Tubing fun” (#32) and Jill’s “Jump!” (#35). Both really capture the unabashed exuberance of kids and summer fun.

Thanks to all for sharing your wonderful talent!

    1. Laura

Thank you, Pat, I’m glad you enjoy them!

  45. Janna

I’m so tickled to see everyone having fun with this contest! Gosh can you believe Summer will be coming to a close soon? I don’t know about you guys but I’m not quite ready to see it move on just yet. These photos are a perfect reminder of just how fun Summer really can be and the memories it can leave behind.
I think #34 just speaks volumes. I want to go pick some wildflowers now. lol

  47. Jill Riter

Hi again, Ken, thanks regarding the “Pout” photo… that one is a favourite of mine, it suggests to me a cover for a children’s fiction book… it was super hot that day and so very bright … I think I was pouting, too, lol.

You are welcome, Laura, glad you posted these!

I love particularly the colours in Laura’s shots. Just wonderful– such cheerfulness in these images.

Thanks, Pat, re: “JUMP!” … poolside is the perfect photo op every time!

    1. Laura

      :)

  48. Jill Riter

“Why do we sing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” when we are already there?”

    LOL

  49. Liz Martin

    Hi everyone!

Love the turnout and the great responses. Sorry about my unexpected absence. I have everything back up to full speed. I do think I am missing a few entries. Thanks, Liz
